2.2: fix, integrate, optimise
veadotube mini 2.2 is out, right now!
we have made a lot of progress with the full version, and since both veadotube and veadotube mini share a codebase, we decided it was time to make a new updated mini build with some of the new stuff we've been making.
let's see what changed:
- better stability overall! we updated the backend to .NET 10 and also updated the SDL library to 3.4.2. we also took the time to revise what's being loaded in memory and removed a lot of stuff, so the program should be a bit lighter in your computer.
- less noise! we added more options for noise reduction, including RNNoise and Cherry. we also added support for the Oculus filter on macOS 15 or higher, and Silero should now work on Linux without the need to install any extra dependencies.
- TeamSpeak and Discord support! mini is now able to make your avatar open and close its mouth according to voice activity from you or other people you're talking to in your voice chat software of choice. we plan on also adding support for more Discord alternatives as we go.
- PipeWire on Linux! you can now stream your avatar to OBS on Linux through the obs-pwvideo plugin, so you can have a similar workflow as using Spout on Windows, or Syphon on macOS. huge thanks to Hoshino Lina for helping with this.
- more hotkey fixes! we once again have reworked how keyboard detection works on both Windows and macOS, so everything should be a bit more stable.
- ...and more! Syphon on macOS should work correctly with older versions of OBS, and we have added support for importing .ase files and non-looping animated .gif/.png/.webp files.
as always, if you enjoy the update, consider supporting us and telling everyone how cool our little program is <3 yay
we have more updates actually
gonna use this post to update you guys on the state of things! to start off, if you're missing it, veadotube the full version is nearly feature-complete in the early access, meaning we have almost all tools we've been meaning to add for avatar creation and streaming. pretty much all fixes above are in veadotube, as well as stuff like:
- converting avatars from HÖNK and PNGTuber+!
- importing .psd files and using separate layers!
- integration with iFacialMocap and the likes!
- using audio files rather than microphones!
- (very experimental) hand tracking!
- a lot more nodes to work with!
people are still doing some insane stuff with the program, and you can join them in the early access! (com um apoia.se pra quem quiser passar no pix!) we also added Stripe as a payment option so if you previously couldn't join, now's a good time.
we're also working on documentation... making tutorials is hard and we're taking our time with it, but somehow a lot of people are making them as well so we've started compiling them in our website! if you had issues understanding the program, there are better starting points now :]
in general there's a lot of fixing and polishing to do, especially in terms of making everything clearer and easier to use. but we're on track to release the full version this year, aiming for Q2/Q3! and as mentioned before, members of the early access, past or current, will get a key when it releases.
and speaking of launch, we decided to give Valve 575 reais to put veadotube the full version on Steam <3 i still very much dislike the store and the community but it seems that putting it there will make it more accessible to people who cannot buy stuff on itch.io, so i guess that's hapenning! it's gonna be DRM-free in there, and i'm still not sure if we're able to distribute Steam keys for those who buy on itch.io but we'll find out.
we were also going to add mini and make 2.2 the first Steam build of mini, but it seems it's like 575 reais per published game/app? and we don't have that money and mini is already free in here so like. it's not worth it right now i guess. maybe in the future whenever we get the money back who knows??
in the meanwhile, wishlist veadotube on Steam if you got an account there!! i rarely use Steam and i certainly never wishlist anything there so i'm not gonna judge if you don't.
i think that's it for updates! we'll continue work on veadotube the full version, and will keep y'all updated on it. happy tubing!

I really like what you are doing with your work! I have a possible feature request/suggestion if it's not already in the works.
Maybe a way to implement automatic state switching based on emotion/tonality? I'm not sure how this would be done fully, but I feel like this would help a lot. Or maybe a web server that interacts with a website or apps that allows you to view all the states that you've assigned, so you can switch them by hand!
As I said, these are truly just suggestions/requests, and thank you for creating such a powerful tool!
Thank you for your hard work!! Really looking forward to the release of Full <3 Discord integration on mini sounds amazing as well, I think it might save me some hassle for some plans I had!
Kind of a niche request, is there any chance of ASIO support being added for mini/full? My use case is being able to detect separately two different mics plugged in an audio interface but I could see it being interesting for people with instruments as well (imagine rigging a little guitar on full... cute)
Really appreciate all your work. Once I have enough spare money I would love to drop cash to get the Full Version
A little late for discord integration, but I sure hope that this can also eventually extend to other programs that haven't been particularly enshitified. Teamspeak integration is just good, though.
no yea the way discord announced their latest bullshit right after i was done implementing this new feature got me so mad i implemented teamspeak support like a week later and i don't even use teamspeak HASHGDHA i'm waiting until the alternatives have proper APIs for this kinda stuff, when i last checked it was still too early for that
