the second november devlogue: collab edition
hi! we're working on veadotube. here's some updates on that:
how's life?
better! we still don't have money but at least the upstairs neighbour is a lot more quiet recently so i am no longer going insane and we can finally go back to work.
i closed my commissions for this next month, but bella's still taking art comms, so go grab one :]
how's progress on the full version?
slow but steady! we're finally starting to work on avatar creation and editing, meaning that soon you should be able not only to create complex avatars like in the old patreon version, but also create and edit mini avatars as well for convenience, finally enabling full feature parity between mini and full. as always, lab testers and ko-fi supporters already have early access to the full version!
we also finished the rough roadmap for the completion of veado the full, meaning that now we know exactly what's left to do for this program to be ready for public release! we still don't have a date or a price or anything, but we have confidence, which was honestly lacking for a while. (lab testers and ko-fi supporters also have access to the complete roadmap btw!)
in the roadmap we also laid down post-release plans, and guess what, possible mobile ports are contemplated in there! this does mean that we won't be thinking about that until we're done with the full version, but hey, it's something.
in other news, we're happy to announce that we're adding support to avatars created in HÖNK to the full version! this means that soon you'll be able to import avatars made in HÖNK to veadotube live, and use them with the already existing Oculus Lipsync node or any other cool veadotube live feature :] here's a funny picture i made for this occasion:
and since we're speaking of collabs, we're also happy to announce we're collabing with the famous studio behind beloved indie games like UNSIGHTED and the currently in-development ABYSS X ZERO!
that's right! they lent us the Kinect v2 they had lying around and now we can add Kinect v2 support to veadotube live 👍
how's progress on mini 2.1?
great actually! the good news is that mini 2.1 is already available for testing on the lab and the ko-fi :]
it's still a work in progress, we're adding new features to it as everyone tests the thing. but here's what to expect of it for the public release, some features already present in the currently available build, others coming in the next few weeks:
- better presentation overall and a proper tutorial screen intro for new users
- better state effect menus, with support for copying and pasting effects, as well as custom user-made effect presets
- more support for gamepads other than xinput ones
- proper drag & drop support, for dropping images on the app without going through file dialogs
- basic undo/redo support
- wayland support and proper dependency solving for linux users
- potentially less crashes for mac users
for now only windows & linux builds are available, since we still don't have access to a mac to make and test mac builds. our plan was to rent a cloud mac since that's cheaper than buying a mac, but we also cannot afford that. and we don't wanna release mini 2.1 without a mac release, so this kinda stutters development for us.
and that's where you come in!
since unfortunately what we get on ko-fi only barely covers our bills, we're gonna do a fundraiser stream for mini 2.1 on november 10th at 4pm BRT <3
the goal itself is not huge (literally abt a hundred bucks) but we might add some stretch goals as we go because this would also help us pay rent. so there's that! we'll be playing games and showing development progress and doing funny bits. do come!
anything else?
hmmm. can i joke about collabs once more
if you like minecraft rp you should come play with us <3 nat is hosting this new server and bella and i are occasionally playing together in there. come join us in our distraction from the horrors of real life!
and that's it. once again we're on bluesky now because fuck twitter. do follow for updates and whatnot! xo

wait, you said price… will you have to pay for it on the full release? Will the version up right now stay up and free?
the full version will be paid, mini will remain free forever!
I love all of this. I wish I had all the money to throw at ya'll.
