july devlogue
it's july! and this is another post where we remind you we're working on veadotube and tell you which things we're working on specifically :]
how's the full version going?
last month we got a very barebones veadotube 0.3 up and running in the lab and in the early access! it's 0.3 bc the last patreon version years ago was 0.2, and it'd be weird to just reset the counter like that.
this build features full access to the underlying node system that veado mini uses, letting you use your mini avatars in more dynamic ways. we described the node system in the last post, if you missed that. those in the lab/ko-fi also get a tutorial video together with the build, describing in more detail how the node system works!
right now we're wrapping up on a new build that fixes most issues with the node system and slowly adds more basic user features like undo, redo, copy, paste... you know, things that every program like this should come with out of the box HAHSDA this kinda basic stuff is actually harder to implement than you might think! copying and pasting requires working with the system to copy data between different windows, an undo/redo system requires keeping track of changes throughout the editor (and not destroying ram usage in the process!) and making sure every action supports doing the exact opposite of itself... not trivial!
oh, and soon we'll be also adding more features as well, of course >:] after this we'll be moving on to scene-wise features, including anchoring objects together and toggling/moving them according to user-defined state machines, aka the things that enable support for adding props/accessories to an avatar.
integration-wise, we should be adding more nodes that can be accessed through the websocket server, meaning more things you will be able to do with the Stream Deck plugin, and also with code if you're willing to speak to the websocket server directly!
we're also still studying Discord voice call support, but we'll say, that shit's hard <3 Discord apis are annoying. whenever we get that right though there should be a Discord node that lets you listen to a user in a voice call and then connect that to an avatar. yay voice call support!
any other cool news related to veadotube?
glad you asked! we do have a really cool one, though mostly exclusive to people in brazil: we'll be doing our very first artist alley with veadotube merch at Brasil FurFest 2024! we don't really focus on merch bc we're more interested in having an actual app working, so it's simple stuff like stickers and posters and whatnot. still really cool stuff!
we'll also have things not related to veadotube, more of our own art, other things associated to Sindigatas our little art collective, etc. come take a look if you can!
if everything ends up working fine, we might consider selling merch online as well! but again, our focus isn't on doing this but on actually working on the app, so no high hopes for now! plus international shipping is annoying GSKJDF
and what else?
hmmmm my contract work has finished recently (and if you were at gamescom latam this past weekend, you probably saw the game i worked on!) and i decided to use my free time by streaming more often! i have a weekly schedule now, every wednesday night i'm now vibing on twitch playing games and doing art. this is an excuse for me to test my own app more often, and also to hang out and talk to strangers online :]
and that's about it i think. see you in the next devlog or the early access or the lab. or twitch. or Brasil FurFest? please come to brazil.

Was really hoping for some news on the Linux build and its dependency issues. Still, Cool I guess!
Kinda holding out hope for an AppImage or Flatpak since the dependences have been causing people issues
Now I regret not going to that event. It IS expensive af tho.
i dont want to go to brazil
come to brazil!
