the (second) october devlog
hi! we already have a post called "october devlog" so i suppose this is the second one. a short update this time around but let's go:
how's development?
slow! we posted last month about how my computer broke, and i was limited to my old macbook to work on veado and other stuff. we managed to get it to work with bella's laptop but it was still not ideal as sharing a computer is hard and also why the hell does .NET use like 20gb of ram while building veado. what did i do wrong here. what
well later last month we decided to make a compromise: new computer parts! my puter is back on track and working pretty well and also i'm in debt again. yay!
also, literally right after getting my computer fixed, my macbook exploded and won't turn on anymore. it happened to be the only mac we had at home, and fixing it is out of the question because we could barely afford to fix a normal ass computer, imagine an apple one. which means that we're now unable to update the mac version of veado </3
speaking of developing the app itself, not much has been done this month, honestly. it was mostly just me polishing stuff and getting some webcam work done. this whole situation made it hard to focus on new features for veado live or anything at all.
oh have i mentioned that on top of everything the upstairs neighbour is renovating literally their entire house? we can't work or sleep or even talk to each other properly because it's been literal and i mean literal nonstop noises of drilling and breaking for a couple months now.
if you, the reader, happen to be the one casting all these curses on us: please get in touch, we need to get this sorted out. i'm going insane i'm not even joking right now.
and what's the plan?
well we can't do shit about the noise but we still need to survive and veado & our side jobs don't pay the bills by themselves! so to keep up with everything we're gonna have to put on the best talent show this town has ever seen.
our next steps for veado are as follows:
- wrap up on veadotube live -- it's got enough features for now, just needs a few more touches before we can move on to veadotube editor, the one where you can make entire complex avatars.
- work on veadotube mini 2.1 as a much needed quality-of-life update, and attempt to release it to all 3 platforms.
to make this work, we present you some incredible opportunities to help us:
- join the early access! the more people directly helping with veado development the less we have to worry about other stuff. you can also make a one-time donation as always.
- olmewe's 3d commissions! they're open again! i'm gonna try and balance commission work and veado work, not planning on doing a big batch just trying to survive here. get your little 3d guy!
- bella's art commissions! they're also open! get some pretty painted stuff or cool illustrations or short animation loops! lots of options here
and with our hard work and your help and enough luck we can probably survive the horrors and do what we gotta do!
and anything else?
well it's a good time to announce some new socials as well since every website died this last month: i'm on bluesky now, and bella's managing the veado bluesky account as well! you can follow us there to get updates on the project and everything else as always. gringos feel free to join and leave twitter already please
idk what else to add here. i'll be honest it's hard to write this post and keep positive despite everything but we don't have a choice 👍 gotta move forward
(ah! se vc eh brasileire e quiser ajudar a gente a se distrair dos horrores, vem jogar roleplay de minecraft com a gente. eh isso tchau)
